Liz Walford - Chair

Appointed to YourPlace Board in December 2009, Liz is experienced at Board level in executive and non-executive roles in the not-for-profit sector. Her experience includes charities, industrial and provident societies and limited companies. She has practical understanding of governance and accountability and wide experience of the legal and regulatory framework in the housing sector. 

Mick McCabe

A former Executive Director of Housing and Customer Services at GHA, Mick has over 40 years of experience in Housing Management.  He has been a member of the YourPlace board for over two years. Mick is also an active committee member for New Shaws LHO and is currently a Director on the board for the charity YPeople (formerly YMCA). 

Sheila Gunn

A qualified solicitor, Ms Gunn has been a YourPlace Board member since September 2012. She is also Vice Chair of the Board of Wheatley Group, YouPlace’s parent company.

She left legal private practice, where she was latterly a partner  at Shepherd and Wedderburn, in 2009 to pursue a management career in industry and undertake non-executive appointments. 

Sheila has extensive non-executive experience and  her current non-executive appointments include Phoenix Life Independent Governance Committee, Accounts Commission, Airdrie Savings Bank, Council of the Chartered Banker Institute, and the Ethics Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

Elaine Melrose

Elaine is one of Scotland’s most experienced public sector executives, having undertaken a range of senior roles since beginning her local authority career in 1984. She joined Wheatley in 2013 as Group Director of Resources, having previously been Executive Director for Housing, Environmental and Economic Development at West Dunbartonshire Council and continues to serve on the UK National Council of the Association for Public Sector Excellence. Her previous executive roles and responsibilities have ranged from developing organisational culture to creating sustainable business models for key services and establishing a framework with partners to facilitate effective long-term financial, investment and resource planning. Through the Wheatley Solutions subsidiary, she is responsible for providing a range of business-critical support services, including ICT, legal, procurement, business solutions and the customer service centre, that create a solid platform for the group to deliver outstanding customer service.
