Change your life - and help others too

WE want to help young people change their lives – and help others too.

Volunteering can help you find a new career, improve your confidence and make a difference to other people.

It’s a great way to increase your skills, improve your CV and meet new people.

And it could even help you land your dream job.

Volunteer Plus, in partnership with Loretto Care, Project Scotland and the Wheatley Foundation, has volunteering opportunities in youth work, sport, animal care, social media, fundraising, admin and more.

Placements are for young people who live in a YourPlace home, aged 16-30 who can commit to 20-30 hours a week for three months and are able to travel to Glasgow.

You’ll get a lot of support, including workshops on interview skills and help to write a CV.

You’ll get travel expenses too – and if you’re claiming benefits, they won’t be affected.

Emma Hanlon, from Volunteer Plus, said: “Volunteering can be a lot of fun – and rewarding too.

“It’s a brilliant way for young people to expand their horizons and give back to their communities.

“We’re really keen to get as many young people involved as possible.”

We’re holding an information session this month for young people to find out more, ask any questions and hear from other volunteers.

If you live in a YourPlace home, and you’re aged between 16 and 30, why not pop along?

The information session is at Lipton House, Crown Street, Glasgow, on Wednesday 24 January at 1.30pm.
